Isaiah 13:6-10

6 aWail, for bthe day of the Lord is near;
as destruction from the Almighty
The Hebrew words for  destruction and  almighty sound alike
it will come!
7Therefore all hands will be feeble,
and every human heart dwill melt.
8They will be dismayed:
epangs and agony will seize them;
fthey will be in anguish like a woman in labor.
They will look aghast at one another;
their faces will be aflame.
9 Behold, gthe day of the Lord comes,
cruel, with wrath and fierce anger,
to make the land a desolation
and hto destroy its sinners from it.
10 iFor the stars of the heavens and their constellations
will not give their light;
jthe sun will be dark at its rising,
and the moon will not shed its light.

Isaiah 13:19-22

19And Babylon, kthe glory of kingdoms,
the splendor and pomp of the Chaldeans,
will be llike Sodom and Gomorrah
when God overthrew them.
20 mIt will never be inhabited
or lived in for all generations;
no nArab will pitch his tent there;
no oshepherds will make their flocks lie down there.
21But pwild animals will lie down there,
and their houses will be full of howling creatures;
there qostriches
Or owls
will dwell,
and there wild goats will dance.
22Hyenas
Or foxes
will cry in its towers,
and tjackals in uthe pleasant palaces;
its time is close at hand
and its days will not be prolonged.

Isaiah 14:22-24

22“I will rise up against them,” declares the Lord of hosts, “and will cut off from Babylon name and vremnant, wdescendants and posterity,” declares the Lord. 23“And I will make it a possession of the xhedgehog,
Possibly porcupine, or owl
and pools of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord of hosts.

24 The Lord of hosts has sworn:
zAs I have planned,
so shall it be,
and as I have purposed,
so shall it stand,

Jeremiah 50:12-13

12your mother shall be utterly shamed,
and she who bore you shall be disgraced.
Behold, she shall be the last of the nations,
aaa wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.
13 abBecause of the wrath of the Lord she shall not be inhabited
but shall be an utter desolation;
aceveryone who passes by Babylon shall be appalled,
adand hiss because of all her wounds.

Jeremiah 50:35-40

35 “A sword against the Chaldeans, declares the Lord,
and against the inhabitants of Babylon,
and against aeher officials and her afwise men!
36A sword against the diviners,
that they may become fools!
A sword against her agwarriors,
that they may be destroyed!
37A sword against her horses and against her chariots,
and against all ahthe foreign troops in her midst,
that aithey may become women!
ajA sword against all her treasures,
that they may be plundered!
38 akA drought against her waters,
that they may be dried up!
alFor it is a land of images,
and they are mad over idols.
39 amTherefore wild beasts shall dwell with hyenas in Babylon, and ostriches shall dwell in her. She shall never again have people, nor be inhabited for all generations. 40 anAs when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, declares the Lord, aoso no man shall dwell there, and no son of man shall sojourn in her.

Jeremiah 51:8-9

8 apSuddenly Babylon has fallen and been broken;
aqwail for her!
arTake balm for her pain;
perhaps she may be healed.
9We would have healed Babylon,
but she was not healed.
asForsake her, and atlet us go
each to his own country,
for auher judgment has reached up to heaven
and has been lifted up even to the skies.

Jeremiah 51:25-26

25 Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain,

declares the Lord,
which destroys the whole earth;
I will stretch out my hand against you,
and roll you down from the crags,
avand make you a burnt mountain.
26No awstone shall be taken from you for a corner
and no stone for a foundation,
but you shall be axa perpetual waste,
declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 51:37-44

37and Babylon shall become aya heap of ruins,
azthe haunt of jackals,
baa horror bband a hissing,
without inhabitant.
38 bc“They shall roar together bdlike lions;
they shall growl like lionscubs.
39 beWhile they are inflamed bfI will prepare them a feast
and bgmake them drunk, that they may become merry,
bhthen sleep a perpetual sleep
and not wake, declares the Lord.
40I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter,
like rams and male goats.
41 How biBabylon
Hebrew Sheshach, a code name for Babylon
is taken,
bkthe praise of the whole earth blseized!
How Babylon has become
a horror among the nations!
42 bmThe sea has come up on Babylon;
she is covered with its tumultuous waves.
43Her cities have become a horror,
bna land of drought and a desert,
boa land in which no one dwells,
and through which no son of man passes.
44And I will punish bpBel in Babylon,
and bqtake out of his mouth brwhat he has swallowed.
bsThe nations shall no longer flow to him;
btthe wall of Babylon has fallen.

Jeremiah 51:62

62and say, ‘O Lord, you have said concerning this place that you will cut it off, so buthat nothing shall dwell in it, neither man nor beast, and it shall be bvdesolate forever.’
